Activities

Booking is required for all walks.  To book please contact the leader no later than the Wednesday beforehand for walks on a weekend and much earlier than that for extended walks. Express your interest early to allow dates to be changed if necessary. 

Non-members can find out more about an activity by contacting the Secretary. Before going on an activity, you must agree to certain conditions.When carpooling, we usually meet at the Kepler St carpark near KFC.

Monthly Meetings are usually at 7:30 pm on the second Tuesday of the month in the Archie Graham Centre. Covid restrictions mean our planned in-person meeting for 14 September has been replaced by a Zoom meeting in which we shall learn about the work of the Nature Glenelg Trust.

 Activities program

The activity program is sparser than usual because Covid restrictions mean some leaders are uncertain as to when they will be in Warrnambool to lead a walk they hope to lead. It goes without saying that if a gap in the program is approaching it will be filled! Ditto if lockdown is reopened.

The walks grading system
Distance in 1 day Hills Tracks
S–Short, under 10 km 1–3 Easy, suitable for beginners 1–3 Graded "open terrain", well formed tracks or paths
M–Medium, 10–15 km 4–7 Medium, reasonable fitness required 4–7 Bush, minor scrub, some rock hopping or scrambling
L–Long, 15–20 km 8–10 Hard/strenuous, fit walkers only  8–10 Bush, thick scrub, major rock/creek
crossing, rock hopping, scrambling and use of hands
X–Extra long, over 20 km
